Since 1993 biochemical research pioneer turned physician Dr Joel D. Wallach, BSc DVM ND, has been in demand for his lectures on the therapeutic benefits of minerals and other essential nutrients.

Dr Wallach in earlier days (1978) discovers the "human congenital disease" cystic fibrosis in a rhesus monkey – cured with a vitamin treatment.

Dr Wallach’s talks have covered arthritis, lower-back pain, adult-onset diabetes, knee-joint pain, osteoporosis, insomnia, a worn-out hip or two, digestion problems, infertility, greying hair, depression, and 1001 other “unnatural” conditions.

He spent decades in the field of veterinary medicine observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, wrote a textbook ‘Diseases of Exotic Animals’, and contributed to 70 dietary and pharmaceutical research studies published in peer-reviewed journals.

In 1977, Dr Wallach discovered the world’s first recognised case of non-human cystic fibrosis in a selenium-deficient Rhesus monkey while he was a scientist at the Emory University Yerkes National Primate Center in Atlanta, Georgia. At the time, cystic fibrosis was believed to be the result of a human congenital disease.

Research on trace minerals

It was this discovery that set him on a 20-year course of research into the health benefits of selenium and other trace minerals. As a result of this work, and his later books, he has become known as The Mineral Doctor.

His perspective is that the body can heal itself, because your body is designed to live to a ripe old age, vigorous and free of pain, if it gets
